It's like when potatoes were introduced, people were smoking them, some were wearing them, then some bright spark started eating them

Can indulging in cannabis make you paranoid about being forced to take cannabis?

First they decriminalise it, then they legalise it.

Next they will start extolling its virtues.

After that, when you fail to conform you will be asked whether you have missed your cannabis dose.

Once the state control it, do not trust it. Its Soma.

Re: Anyone here with any medical knowledge?
Some people seem to believe that there are ‘good’ legal medicines, and ‘bad’ illegal drugs that are somehow fundamentally different.

All drugs or medicines are part of the same continuum, some are more powerful than others, some have more serious or dramatic side effects than others, some are more prone to abuse than others.

Governments have tried to legislate around these factors, accompanied by trying to gauge what the voters’ acceptance is for certain substances being legal or not, and how this will affect their performance at the polls. Hence a lack of uncertainty around the grey areas. Nicotine and alcohol are two examples that would struggle to even get a licence now but are broadly speaking ‘acceptable’ due to being heavily embedded in the populace.

In a sensible world, any substance should be objectively assessed for it’s positive effects versus it’s negative effects in each unique situation. This common sense approach however does not fit in with trying to keep the mass of the electorate onside where ‘strong ‘soundbites and broad strokes seem to be needed.

I think there is solid evidence that it is good for tumours and can work against cancers

Nowhere near as strong as morphine.
Should be decriminalised anyway.
Less harmful than alcohol and causes far less social issues too.
All very hypocritical and no doubt money and the conglomerates are deciding.
Stupid thing is there is huge money in it as it must be the most popular illegal drug on the planet.

There is no medical reason, it is banned for social reasons as it’s seen as a “gateway” drug.

It makes no sense, especially as people with mouth cancer are often prescribed cocaine mouthwash....

Re: Anyone here with any medical knowledge?
well there you have it, its been shown to ease symptoms so therefore should be at least be tested as any other drug would be. Am sure most drugs that came from plants were stumbled on by accident and people wouldnt have known their benefits initially.

Re: Anyone here with any medical knowledge?
Not that I’m against it. If it works, use it. I’m suspicious of the claims made by the legalise lobby though. Also, regarding big pharmaceutical companies not wanting it, that doesn’t make sense. They’d monetise it in a heartbeat if it was allowed.

Where’s the evidence on epilepsy?

I get that if you’re epileptic, then getting deprived of a drug you’ve got dependant on will have adverse effects, but what if you’d never had it in the first place. What benefit does it bring?

Darlo Debs 5:08 Tue Jun 19

Hermit they clearly do have a beneficial effect on easing suffering for some illnesses including MS and severe Epilepsy.
